November Recap and New Events

We at the Princeton chapter of Unite for Sight are geared up and ready for the busy holidays. This month, we had our first school outreach trip of the year at Little Leisure and, dare we say, it ended up being a very successful event! Here are some other activities we have forthcoming.

Bake Sale Fundraiser
11/30/10 in Frist Campus Center (late meal)
We will be having a baking party Monday night and selling some yummy UFS brownies made with the fondest TLC in Frist Tuesday during late meal hours.

UFS Winter Party!
12/02/10 in 98 Blair
Because of the nature of UFS events, we don’t always get to work with the other members of the group so this is a great chance for all of us to get to know each other. Not to mention, there will be lots of yummy food involved. Join us and get to know your fellow volunteers!

Global Bazaar
12/05/10 from 1-4 PM in the Chancellor Green Rotunda
Volunteers will be selling some African handiwork and beautiful greeting cards designed by our own Christina Gupfinger. 100% of the donations we raise for this event will be used to fund eye care for low-income patrons at one of Unite for Sight’s international programs.

Envision It! Fundraiser
12/10/10 from 7-10 PM in Frist
Volunteers will be holding a fun outreach event for local Princeton youth. Activities will be eye-care themed and will include some fun art projects! 100% of the donations we raise for this event will be used to fund eye care for low-income patrons at one of Unite for Sight’s international programs.

Arch Sing Fundraiser
12/16/10 under Blair Arch (late meal)
Join us in listening the blissful Yuletide croons of Tigressions and other awesome Princeton a cappella groups in support of Unite for Sight’s fundraising efforts. 100% of the donations we raise for this event will be used to fund eye care for low-income patrons at one of Unite for Sight’s international programs.

Welcome!

Unite For Sight is a U.S.-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to improve access to quality eye care in the US and worldwide and to fight preventable blindness.

As the 2009-2010 academic year draws to a close, we find our fledgling organization has triumphed and succeeded in blazing forward and making itself known. The Princeton Unite for Sight chapter was founded in fall semester of 2009 under the leadership of Kok Hou Chia ’11. Engaging the community through a series of eyeglass drives, vision acuity screenings, fundraising activities and teacher training sessions, the chapter has succeeded in blazing forward and making itself known in the Princeton community since its inception. We hope to propel this momentum forward into the 2010-2011 year under our new president Christina Gupfinger ’12.
